Plant Life is pretty much exactly that – life inspired and fueled by plants. Plant-based eating, a conscious, sustainable lifestyle and an all-encompassing plant-based life. The team consists of Lexi, the founder of this blog, plant-based chef & food content specialist and her kick-ass blogging partner, Kyla who has her own physiotherapy private practice and keeps everyone in check.
I started out in advertising. I spent 5 years figuring out that working at a desk was not the life for me. While I was busy figuring that out (maybe also part of the how I figured it out) I started this little blog. It started out as a way to record my clumsy experiments in the kitchen. I mean, way back then I could barely even boil a potato properly, I definitely didn’t know what kale was and I ate waaaayyyyy too much McDs. The shame. Through my successes and failures in the kitchen I soon realised I was living a really unhealthy, unhappy life. It took me a long time, but eventually, through a series of very small changes over a good few years I find myself eating a largely plant-based diet and doing a decent amount of exercise and, in general, living a much happier & healthier life.
I am not a perfect person. I am not a die-hard vegan. I eat chocolate fondants sometimes and even the odd burger on special occasions. I hope to, one day, be as disciplined and all-around in control as the likes of LeeFromAmerica (although not vegan, just very happy and healthy), Rich Roll or even my amazing blogging partner Kyla. But, they say that comparison is the thief of joy, and so I am very happy and content with where, who and how I am right now.
Through this blog I aim to bring some of my personal experiences, challenges, successes, failures, recipes (of course) and a little touch of whatever else is happening and grabbing my attention at the time.
I’ve always been fairly into healthy living, even as a child I would rather be outside climbing a tree than inside watching TV. Exercise and healthy food have always just been a part of how I’ve inherently lived my life. From enjoying learning to cook from my grandmother, to school sports, I guess I have pretty much just developed that subconscious love of wellness into my adult life.
I am by no means even close to where I want to be in terms of fitness, health or overall well-being, but we’re all on our own journey aren’t we?.. I love learning every day, and failing every now and then. At the moment I’m moving towards a more plant-based lifestyle, the way I eat now is probably a version of plant-based paleo flexitarian. I’m a big believer in balance and getting into a wellness groove that you can sustain forever: Flip yes to the Friday G&T, Flip yes to resting your body when you’re tired (no self judgement)! In my professional life I am a physio, and I really love getting people back to feeling good and functioning at their best. I love using my body in whatever way I can, movement is medicine.
A while after Lexi started Whisking It, I contributed here and there and it’s been inspiring to watch her grow on her foodie & cooking journey… we love each other and we hope that translates into the bits and pieces we write on health, recipes, fitness and probably some rants that we will post on this little blog.
