YAY! Friday Friends!
There are basically zero reasons not to like Alison Wu. She makes pastel-coloured layered smoothies, has an awesome crystal collection and her dog Tilly is the cutest.
Alison isn’t vegan, but she follows a plant-based diet, and recently has some great insights into SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth), and the protocol she followed to help her deal with some gut issues. [Obviously one needs to do lots of research and get a diagnosis before staring something like that, but her journey through this elimination-type diet gives a lot of great ideas]. If you have been diagnosed with SIBO, check out Alison’s journey on her blog. Alison’s approach to health is laid-back, but she is all for going as natural as possible and reducing unnecessary toxins. * We concur! I should actually do another elimination diet, come to think of it… anyway!
She regularly does BArre3 (which I wish we had in SA), but I am keen to try an SA version at a Barre Body studio here in Cape Town. I’ll tell you how that goes.
Alison has tons of healthy recipes on her blog, one of my favourites is the ‘Romenesco with roasted cauliflower and creamy polenta’. I also really want to try the ‘Roasted yam, black bean & spinach tacos with cream cashew sauce’.
I am flipping all about nice-cream at the moment, I need the ‘Mint caco chip nice cream’ in my life (drool) . PS. Give me all the superfood-filled dairy-free moon milk drinks! Her feed is one of the reasons I started drinking matcha as a more regular morning ritual, she has some great tips on how to incorporate powerful herbs into your matcha potions. I have kind of started alternating matcha and coffee mornings, to help wean off the coffee (but still get a bit of a sustained energy kick).
One of the loveliest things Alison does on IG lately is to share readings from whatever she is reading as her ‘daily wisdom’, always uplifting and interesting. We love Alison’s crystal-loving face.
