The opening of Jacksons Real Food Market, I feel, is a benchmark in the awareness of health & sustainability in South Africa. Or at least in Jobug – we all know that Cape Town is way more ahead of the curb in that sense.
Gary – the owner of Jacksons – is a charismatic, fun and energetic guy that is really passionate about his store, the products and their suppliers. Obviously I only shop in the veg aisle and skip the meat and dairy, but if I were to buy animal products then I would far prefer to buy stuff like that from a place like this where you know that the suppliers are at least attempting to achieve a more sustainable and healthier product.
Their fruit & veg is all locally sourced, organic (no pesticides, yay!). If you follow a health conscious lifestyle like vegan, paleo, sugar free, paleo or similar then Jacksons is one of the few places that has a whole range of meals, fresh products, dry goods and foods – which makes it perfect for your local shopping needs 😉 They also have Origin Coffee there – delicious fresh coffee from Cape Town, a juice bar that serves cold-pressed fruit & veg juices and then a little mini patisserie for those sweet teeth out there.
Anyway, the breakfast there was delicious. They sell CoYo. Go to there.
They just moved from the one side of Bryanston Drive to the other – into the Riverside Shopping Centre. You can check out their website, call them on 011 463 1598.
