First edition of FRIDAY FRIENDS is up! And we are crushing hard on Lee from America.
Our Friday Friends posts are about sharing other bloggers, Instagrammers and just general friends of the plant-based community. Lee from America is not vegan or categorically plant-based, but her diet is mostly plants, wholefoods, gluten-free, no processed junk etc. So from a health perspective, she is really up there with the best of the best. Remember, although Plant Life is a massive advocate for the vegan community and plant-based eating and lifestyle, we are more concerned with general health & wellness than following a black and white rule book.
Pro Veg – a global plant-based movement – believes in a reductarian approach instead of a hard-and-fast no-meat policy. The best way to see a bigger change is to give people the freedom to find their own balance and sustainable lifestyle.
Anyway. I digress. Let’s talk about Lee. I watch her Instagram stories like they are crack. She’s super down-to-earth, she’s fun and doesn’t take herself too seriously. She shares practical and useful information on how to reduce toxins in your life (which essentially means reducing non-plant-based products and intake) but she isn’t condescending about it. Her outlook on life to quote one of her most recent Instagram posts is “it’s all about balance baby”. And I 100% agree. When in Rome, eat the damn pizza. When someone brings you a cake for your birthday and you want a slice then go for it. No guilt or shame. As long as you are conscious of what you are putting in your body, how that affects you, your health and the world at large then you’re already winning the battle.
So what exactly does she share? Well. Her food. Excuse me while I wipe the drool off my screen.
Lee’s smoothie recipes are NEXT LEVEL. She has a very low fruit in-take and includes lots of veg which is great for inspiration on how to mix up that good-old green morning smoothie recipe. She does bowls. You all know how much I freaking love bowls right? Her’s look SOOOO GOOOOOOD. Obviously I would minus the occasional egg or chicken or salmon that she includes – but like I said earlier, it’s all about your own maintainable, manageable lifestyle.
She shares a lot about her PCOS journey. If you have been diagnosed with PCOS then I highly recommend buying the book WomanCode and following Lee’s blog, she has a bunch of relevant info and helpful recipes, advice etc. Even if you don’t have (or think you have) PCOS, the application for general female hormone balance and health & wellness is really amazing. Since I have cut coffee (from following Lee’s advice) I have noticed a massive difference in my skin and cycle regularity. She’s also always promoting non-toxic products for skincare, Moon Cups to replace tampons, using eucalyptus in your shower to clear your sinus and just breath in for serenity and happiness 🙂 haha.
So give Lee a follow on Instagram or just head over to her blog for all her latest posts. I mean I am 100% sure if I met Lee in real life we would TOTES be besties. LOL. Kidding but also not. She’s the best. Total girl crush.
