Lexi and I were super excited to be able to spend some time together in Cape Town together and we decided to check a few places out together and do what we do best: eat!
You may have noticed a move towards more plant-based and vegan recipes in the last few months, this is because Lexi is moving in that direction. If you see recipes tending more towards paleo, then these are likely from Kyla. We both, however, are aligned to real food, nutritional eating and health.
So we decided to visit of Cape Town’s best vegan restaurants for dinner: Plant on Buiten street.
I am so glad that Plant expanded and moved to this new space a while back because it’s beautiful and cosy. Their menu has also expanded for the better! This is the type of place to take veggies and non-veggies because everything is delicious.
We ate a lot of things: the vegan nachos, Aubergine tian tower, Chickpea & spinach & butternut Marsala, Claire’s mole beans and rice, and a chocolate gluten-free brownie … We did take home left-overs!
Our favourites were the vegan nachos because these are gluten- and dairy-free and taste amazing and have the all-important crunch factor! We also loved the Aubergine tian tower, the depth of flavour in those lentils is madness and the gluten-free brownie had just the right amount of sweetness. We thought the mole beans needed salt and I found the Marsala a bit too sweet but otherwise really yummy. They have a good wine and tea and smoothie selection which I will be back for (not all at once, lol)!
